Arwen’s 1 Year Ampuversary

Arwen had her one year ampuversary!! One year ago, September 17th, Arwen had her left, front leg amputated. It was a hard decision (and the worst night ever), but here we all are, a year later! And what a year!

Arwen got to spend the winter playing in the snow:

She got to go on a snowboarding trip to Washington:

She got to go on an Idaho-Montana road trip, where she got to see Flathead Lake for the first time:

She got to go on lots of hikes:

She got to spend lots of time swimming! (Always with a life jacket now. Just as a precaution, and it seems to make things easier on her.) :

She got to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas:

But mostly, she got to spend time with us:

It would really take too long to detail everything we have gotten to do with Arwen this last year. We went for approximately 277 walks, enjoyed hundreds of hugs and cuddles, and shared thousands of kisses.

We get to fall asleep with Arwen in our bed each night, and wake up to her smiling, happy face every morning.

I am so glad my husband and I made the decision to amputate Arwen’s leg a year ago. It took away her pain and lengthened her life. I am grateful for every single minute I get to spend with this sweet angel. I have no idea how much longer I get to have her with us, but I would never give this year back. Despite the surgery, despite the chemo visits, we got so much happy, vet-free, pain-free time. I can look back and say everything we did was worth it.

  1. Arwen is one lucky pup. She is living a dream life for any dog, or human! I love the pictures, and to see her so happy is amazing!

    Congratulations Arwen!

  2. I am absolutely overflowing with happy tears all over my face! This is one of the best testimonials to he’ll a tripod can live life to the fullest that I have ever seen! If I come back as a dog, whether I have three legs or four, I want to be one of your dogs!

I am over the moon happy to see all of the glorious adventures you and Arwen and your pack have been having. Talk about making each moment the best moment ever, you have achieved that beyond anyone’s wildest expectations!

The pictures you have shared are so beautiful and so full of joy and happiness and love. You have made every day a sacred memory that will be with you forever. I cannot express how beautifully you have articulated this journey so far. It is uplifting, inspirational, and so full of hope for anyone just starting out.
HAPPY ONE YEAR AMPUVERSARY GORGEOUS ARWEN! And keep’em coming!!

BTW, read this three times before I even replied because I wanted to stay in these moments of bliss with Arwen. And the scenery was spectacular!

    Extra hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS…… that Halloween costume is the best ever! I love your sense of humor!

    1. Thank you so much for your support! Arwen inspires us every day, too, and she deserves to be so happy (like every pup out there!). Extra hugs back to all of you!

P.S. I’m glad you like the Halloween costume! We all went for the full Monty Python theme this year. We all dressed as knights, and had the coconuts for horse hoof sounds. And Arwen was quite the trooper, willing to be the rabbit victim! 🙂

  3. Ohhhhhh my eyes are watery with hoppy tears for you guys! This is the most beautiful celebration of an amazing girl who has beaten the odds and continues to inspire. CONGRATULATIONS!

I can’t believe it’s been a year. Woah! You three have overcome so much and you did it with such pawsitivity and courage. Look how it’s paid off! Forever and ever you and Arwen have proven that even for big dawgs, life on three is a beautiful gift filled with joy and unforgettable times.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be part of this rock star year and may there be many, many more pawesome adventures and beautiful days ahead!

    YAY ARWEN! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

    1. We love you guys back! We are so happy to have the opportunity the Tripawds site provides to share Arwen’s story. The site’s stories were such a great comfort to us the days right before Arwen’s amputation, and we’re glad we can turn around and share her story, too.

Much love to you, Rene and Wyatt. Keep up the good work!!
